A casting call for a giant man has gone out for The Force Awakens. Given Peter Mayhew is a crumbling old man, this can mean only one thing.

Well, we'd assume it means one thing - Chewbacca will be in The Force Awakens!

Here's the casting call that is doing the rounds and lead to speculation about the Wookie being in the new Star Wars:

Tall Man (Male, 21 – 60) Male, 7 ft to 7.3 ft tall with a slim/thin build and upright posture. Not too worked out or too ‘thick set’ especially in the shoulders. Broad facial features would be a bonus.

Peter Mayhew recently has had knee surgery so would likely be out of action for the new movie - sadly Peter isn't aging too well and one wonders whether he'd have been able to play Chewbacca once more. One can imagine doing stunts in the big fury suit would have been quite hard work!

This casting call of course could simply be for a stunt man. Or...

The cast call could be for a new version of Chewbacca. If you'll recall there are going to be a couple of 'side movies' that fill the time between the new trilogy. It's been long rumoured one of them is going to be an origin story for Han Solo. The expanded universe has given Han and Chewbacca quite the back story (such as how they met) so it would seem fair to speculate the call could be for this movie.

While some fans might be disappointed that it would seem Mayhew is coming back for another crack at a Star Wars film they should bear in mind that Darth Vader was played by a couple of people and as for Boba Fett, he had like 100 people fill his suit. No seriously, Fett was actually played by 4 people!

In all likely hood though, my money is the call being for a new Chewbacca in the new Abrams movie.
