Mace Windu quotes from the Star Wars Prequel movies

Yoda and Mace

Mace Windu quotes from the Prequel movies

One of George Lucas's earliest creations for his Star Wars universe was a fellow called Mace Windy. He was never used for the original trilogy but when the prequel films were being born, Mace Windu was given life.

Played with a pomp solemness by Samuel Jackson, Mace had a few key moments the the films. While not the most popular character in the franchise he does live with the distinction of killing Jango Fett and being the only Jedi to best Palpatine in a sword fight.

Here's some of Windu's best quotes from the Star Wars prequels.

First up it's The Phantom Menace. Mace Windu was presented as being a senior Jedi within the Jedi Council and appeared to be a sting allay of Master Yoda but not with concerns about young Anakin.

Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace

Qui-Gon Jinn: [describing his encounter with Darth Maul] He had all the lightsaber fighting capabilities and the moves of the Jedi, only faster and more agressive. My only conclusion... is that it was a Sith lord.
Ki-Adi-Mundi: Impossible! The Sith are extinct! They have been for nearly a millenium.
Mace Windu: I agree. The Sith would not have returned without us sensing it.
Yoda: Hard to see, the dark side is. We must investigate further before drawing a conclusion to the identity of your adversary.

Yoda: How feel you?
Anakin: Cold, sir.
Yoda: Afraid are you?
Anakin: No, sir.
Yoda: See through you we can.
Mace Windu: Be mindful of your feelings.

Ki-Adi-Mundi: Your thoughts dwell on your mother.
Anakin: I miss her.
Yoda: Afraid to lose her I think, hmm?
Anakin: What has that got to do with anything?
Yoda: Everything! Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering. I sense much fear in you.

Qui-Gon Jinn: A boy. His cells have the highest concentration of midi-chlorians I have seen in a life-form. It was possible he was concieved by the midi-chlorians.
Mace Windu: You refer to the prophecy of The One who will bring balance to the Force. You believe it's this boy?

Yoda: Always two there are, no more, no less. A master and an apprentice.
Mace Windu: But which was destroyed, the master or the apprentice?

Mace Windu: May the force be with you.

Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones Quotes

While Phantom saw Windu with a little more to do than sit around the Jedi Council talking about prophecies, Clones offered more insight into the Jedi.

He managed to get his hands dirty on Geonosis where he got caught up in the battle royal at the end and beheaded Jango Fett.

Mace Windu: Anakin, escort the Senator back to her planet of Naboo. She'll be safter there. And don't use registered transport. Travel as refugees.
Yoda: The council is confident in its decision, Obi-Wan.
Mace Windu: The boy has exceptional skills.

Mace Windu: Protect the senator at all costs.

Mace Windu: This party's over.

Palpatine: I will not let this Republic, which has stood for a thousand years, be split in two. My negotiations will not fail.
Mace Windu: If they do, you must realize there aren't enough Jedi to protect the Republic. We're keepers of the peace, not soldiers.

Count Dooku: Brave, but, foolish, my old Jedi friend. You are impossibly outnumbered.
Mace Windu: I don't think so.
Count Dooku: We'll see.

Yoda: Blind we are, of creation of this clone army we could not see.
Mace Windu: I think it is time we inform the senate that our ability to use the force has diminished.

Yoda: Only a Dark Lord of the Sith knows of our weakness. If informed the senate is, multiply our adversaries will.

Mace Windu: You know, m'lady, that Count Dooku was once a Jedi. He couldn't assassinate anyone. It's not in his character.

Mace Windu: We will not be hostages to be bartered, Dooku.

Darth Sidius v Mace Windu

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith Quotes

Time to dance for Windu as he earnt his place in Star Wars lore by defeating Palpatine only for. Anakin to ruin every thing by cutting of his arm.

Mace Windu: May the force be with us all.

Mace Windu: The oppression of the Sith will never return! You, my lord, have lost!
Sidious :No... no... no! YOU WILL DIE!
Mace Windu: I sense a plot to destroy the Jedi. The Dark Side of the Force surrounds the Chancellor.
Ki-Adi-Mundi: If he does not give up his emergency powers after the destruction of Grievous, then he must be forcibly removed from office.
Mace Windu: It will be tricky. The Jedi Council will have to take control of the Senate to ensure a peaceful transition to a new goverment and a new leadership for the Republic.
Yoda: Hmm. To a dark place this line of thought will carry us. Great care we must take.

Anakin Skywalker: Master Windu, I must talk to you.
Mace Windu: Not now, Skywalker. We have just received word that Obi-Wan has destroyed General Grievous. We're on our way to make sure the Chancellor returns emergency powers back to the Senate.

Anakin Skywalker: He won't give up his power. I just learned the terrible truth. I think Chancellor Palpatine is a Sith Lord.
Mace Windu: A Sith Lord?
Anakin Skywalker: Yes, the one we've been looking for.
Mace Windu: How do you know this?
Anakin Skywalker: He knows the ways of the Force. He's been trained to use the Dark Side.
Mace Windu: Are you sure?
Anakin Skywalker: Absolutely.
Mace Windu: Then our worst fears have been realized. We must move quickly if the Jedi Order is to survive.

Yoda: Allow this appointment lightly, the council does not. Disturbing is this move by Chancellor Palpatine.
Anakin Skywalker: I understand.
Mace Windu: You are on the council, but we do not grant you the rank of master.
Anakin Skywalker: What? How can you do this? This is outrageous, it's unfair.
Mace Windu: Take a seat, young Skywalker.
Anakin Skywalker: Forgive me master.

Obi-Wan Kenobi: Anakin did not take to his new assignment with much enthusiasm.
Mace Windu: It's very dangerous, putting them together. I don't think the boy can handle it. I don't trust him.
Obi-Wan Kenobi: With all due respect, Master, is he not the Chosen One? Is he not to destroy the Sith and bring balance to the Force?
Mace Windu: So the prophecy says.
Yoda: A prophecy that misread could have been.
Obi-Wan Kenobi: He will not let me down. He never has.
Yoda: I hope right you are.

Mace Windu: In the name of the Galactic Senate of the Republic, you're under arrest, Chancellor.
Supreme Chancellor: Are you threatening me, Master Jedi?
Mace Windu: The senate will decide your fate.

There we have it. Some sweet quotes said by Mace Windu. Which are your favorites?

The Force Awakens to be set 30 years after Return of the Jedi

A new official press release has given some firm details on the new Star Wars:

'Disney and Lucasfilm are excited to announce that principal photography on Star Wars: Episode VII, directed by J.J. Abrams, will commence May 2014, and will be based at London's historic Pinewood Studios.

It has also been confirmed that Star Wars: Episode VII is set about 30 years after the events of Star Wars: Episode VI. Return of the Jedi, and will star a trio of new young leads along with some very familiar faces.

No further details on casting or plot are available at this time.'
Familiar faces you say? That's the closest we've come to hearing Luke, Leia and Han are in it....

We ask a lot of questions about Star Wars. And made up some answers....

It’s time for a round up on what In a Faraway Galaxy has been up to. We’ve been fairly busy recently covering various myths and inspirations that went into making the movies.

We also asked some odd questions.

A lot of questions.

Ronald Moore was helping Lucas develop a live action Star Wars television show

No idea why Tricia Helfer is here.

It's probably no surprise to any one that George Lucas was trying to put together a live action television show for Star Wars. What you may not know is that he had one of televisions great content makers working on it, Ronald D Moore.

He made his name on Star Trek: Next Generation and then made him self a piece of history with his revised Battlestar Galactica series.

He recently spoke publicly on his involvement:

I did, for a bit of time, work on what was going to be a Star Wars live-action series. We’d go gather at Skywalker Ranch periodically, every couple of months, and break stories and write scripts for this proposed series that George was interested in. And George was in the ring with us every day. And it was a fascinating, amazing experience.

There was George Lucas and we’d be arguing stories and there was a point where I found myself in an intense argument with George about what Darth Vader would or would not do, and part of my brain kind of went, ‘What the hell are you doing? Are you really going to argue with George Lucas about what Darth Vader would do?

How cool would it have been to have some Star Wars scripts from Moore on the screen? Let's hope a live action Star Wars show eventually does happen. It could be an amazing thing if done right. Let's at it Disney!

As if suddenly a million voices

Many people often talk in terms of Star Wars and Star Trek as if they are some kind of polar opposites, almost as if one were Republican and the other Democrat (the savvy fan could pick which was which fairly easy...).

But one came first and possibly had some influence on the other, that is to say a certain episode of the original Star Trek series may have had a role to play when a certain planet was destroyed by the Death Star in A New Hope.

The Immunity Syndrome episode of Star Trek featured Spock who felt the death of 400 Vulcans:

While it's never been discussed by Lucas publicly, Kitbashed is pretty sure that this episode of Stark Trek was the inspiration for the feelings Ben felt when the planet Alderaan was decimated by the Death Star.

Fans who rage that Star Wars is better than Star Trek would do well to remember this!

The History of Yoda

When people generally think who is the coolest person in the Star Wars universe they often think of Han chilling out with Greedo or Lando dealing with some immense stress when he realises the shield is still up but I'm pretty sure a lot of fans think master Yoda is one of the coolest characters in the films.

He was pretty chilled out when he took on Count Dooku. He wasn't too phased as he took on Darth Sidius and he was fairly nonchalant when he realised Anakin had turned. Of course that's arguable...

We first met the green goblin in Empire as a funny little dude trying to steal Luke Skywalker's lunch only to reveal himself as the fabled Yoda. The Yoda, it turns out, who was one of the greatest Jedi to have ever lived and ultimately perhaps one of the few Jedi to actually alter the course of the history of the realm he lived.

While it might be hard to unlearn what you may have leaned about Yoda, here's some interesting facts and stories about his development, his place in the Star Wars canon and some of his most memorable quotes.
  • Puppeteer and film director Frank Oz is the voice for the most famous little green guy in cinema history.
  • Famously Oz also the voice of the Muppet’s Miss Piggy,  It was because of Oz's talents that he developed with Jim Henson that saw him get the call up.
  • A very early draft of the script of Empire saw suggested that Luke Skywalker would travel to the 'Bog' Planet where he would encounter a frog-like Jedi named Minch, who teaches him the ways of the force. That's right, Yoda was frog-like and was going to be called Minch!
  • Yoda’s species has never been mentioned. In official records he is simply an ‘unknown species’.
  • Yoda died when he was 900 years old having lived a long life of training many Jedi, including most of the ones found in all the films at one stage or another.
  • The little master is 66 cm tall. As a comparison, R2D2 stands taller at 96 cm!
  • For the prequel Attack of the Clones, Yoda was performed by Oz.The next two prequels featured a CGI Yoda and the DVD release of Clones saw a CGI version replace the puppet.
  • While many think Yoda had Darth Sidious beaten in his famous duel in  Revenge of the Sith, it was actually Mace Windu, a former student of Yoda who firmly beat the Sith Lord (of course Anakin came in and ruined it all..)
  • Yoda is famous for his phrasing and his zen like quotes. Here's a selection of the best:
    • Do or do not. There is no try.
    • Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering. I sense much fear in you.
    • You must unlearn what you have learned.
    • When nine hundred years old you reach, look as good, you will not, hmmm?
    • There is another...
