The Force Awakens concept art released / leaked - they suggest there's another great story to be told in the Star Wars universe...

It seems that we have a real deal leak of concept art for The Force Awakens. Concept art is used to inform the the vision of the written story. Famously Ralph McQuarrie did this for George Lucas in the original Star Wars trilogy and Doug Chiang did for the prequels.

So these leaked concept designs were made to help let every one who was making The Force Awakens know what the film is supposed to look like. They set the tone, shapes and all round feel of the movie.

Here's some of the most interesting pictures:

This is a fallen AT Walker, that's possibly on Tatooine as it was titled Binary Sunset. Scuttlebut around the internet has suggested Daisy's character was living in a broken Walker, so maybe that rumour is real, there's some one sitting on on the thing....

We can't decide if this is the best R2D2 / C3PO cosplay couple we've seen or the worst

C3PO r2d2 couple cosplay

We've seen a bit of cosplay lately, but this picture came to the desk late - R2D2 and C3PO as squares of card board. Is this the best or worst Star War cosplay you've seen? Either way we can all agree that dude is batting out of his league. Nice work brah.

Also, did the brah draw some pubes on 3PO?

Notice any thing in common between these two photos?

Yep, Star Wars Rebels has used the same warning sign that was used in Empire to denote trouble behind the door - this was a deleted scene where C3PO ripped the yellow warning off the door in a clever attempt to trick the invading Stron Troopers to enter a cave full of Wampa.

Nice to see Rebels is going full Star Wars nerd on us - bodes well for the series - you heard Darth Vader is making an appearance right?

Picture of a very young Warwick Davis on the set of Return of the Jedi - with a slave Leia!

You would be forgiven for not recognizing this young lad with Carrie Fisher even though he played one of Return of the Jedi’s most famous Ewok’s Wicket. Warwick Davis managed to snag the role of Wicket as the actor who was to play him, R2D2’s Kenny Baker happened to be too sick on the day of shooting.

This turned out to be a big break for Warwick as he went on to perform as Wicket in further Ewok films, took a turn as the title character in the popular Willow film, starred as a leprechaun in some b grade horror movies and even made a couple of appearances in the Harry Potter films.

Davis can regularly be found on the Star Wars celebrity circuit, often hosting events where he acts as the Master of Ceremonies or interviewer, usually of fellow cast members. He's actually gone on to play several parts in Star Wars films, becoming a much loved fan favourite.

Legend has it that George Lucas wrote the film Willow with Davis in mind for the part.

He'll always simply be Wicket to this writer!

Chewbacca might have a bionic arm in The Force Awakens according to this concept design

chewbacca-bionic-arm-concept-art-starwars

Some pictures of concept art have leaked for Star Wars 7 and it appears that Chewbacca has bionic arm. How cool is that?! Very. If this arm thing is true, I'd rather it happens onscreen than off - either way it would be continuing a grand tradition of people losing their arms!

Update - This idea was considered but thrown out. Chewie at one point was scripted as having ripped off Unkar Plutts arm.

Amusingly, it was C3PO that had a new arm in TFA!
