Here’s a story board picture of Princess Leia from "Star Wars Storyboards: The Original Trilogy," a new release from Jonathan Rinzler. Rinzler is a walking encyclopaedia of Star Wars knowledge and has produced several Star Wars works in including, The Making of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and The Making of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.

This story board was done by Alex Tavoularis. He’s quoted in the book as saying "My inspiration for Leia's look, if I remember correctly, was Alex Raymond's women in his 'Flash Gordon' comic book strip."

And as we all know, Flash Gordon had a major impact on the development of Star Wars.

We actually see a Pam Grier quality to it all....
