Star Wars Prequel Films that influenced Rogue One

Things from the Prequels that influenced Rogue One

There's no denying the influence of the prequel films on Rogue One. Here's a couple of influences and references.
  • Bail Organa turned up! He appeared twice in the Prequels so was a big carry over.
  • The actress who played Mon Mothma in Revenge of the Sith (her scenes cut) was brought back.
  • Brief flashback to Coruscant when the Ersos were happier. Though arguably Coruscant first appeared in the Special Edition of A New Hope.
  • Mustafer! Revenge of the Sith’s epic saber duel between Obi-Wan and Anakin took place on the lava planet. We now know that Vader chose to live on the planet in his scary old castle – one apparently built over land that has Sith secrets… The design of the castle was a call back to the original Star Wars designer Ralph McQuarrie and the work he did.
  • Tarkin also had a cameo role on ROTS so that means he appeared in 3 movies.
  • That giant truck that was transporting Jyn Erso? That’s known as the Juggernaut and can be seen in Revenge of the Sith.
  • The Senate was referenced by Tarkin.
  • The Clone Wars was mentioned.
  • If Star Wars: Rebels counts – we get the Ghost ship joining the Battle of Scarif, a quick visual of robot Chopper and a radio ordered call for General Hera Syndulla to call in.
  • If Star Wars: The Clone Wars count – a minor character called Saw Gerrera got to play a pretty big role as Jyn’s guardian.
  • How many hours occurred between R1 and ANH?
